Beginning with July 2008, Jan Stallkamp from our joint development team of IBM and SAP started publishing technical information for selected topics related to SAP on IBM DB2 in a series blog entries. At this time the intention was to bring some insight from the team to interested administrators and consultants and to learn from their feedback.

Over time we learned that it is a hard job to come out with technical stuff in a frequency, which is appropriate for a blog series. This is why we decided for a restart of the blog series with a changed setup. Stay tuned to get heads up information about recent shipments, important patches, events and publications of interest for SAP on IBM i. As we will try to maintain a consistent format, all releases of the series will be published on my name. Set feeds accordingly if you are interested in following the series.

First news we have is that HowTo information we used to present in blogs will move into our new Wiki subspace SAP on IBM DB2 for i (DB4), which is currently under construction. At the moment you can find a list of former blog entries from the team.

Second, more important, we announced support for SAP R/3 4.6C on IBM i 7.1 as of June 6th 2011. Both versions, EBCDIC and ASCII, are covered. You will need 4.6D kernel patch level 2582 as a prerequisite. Find more details in SAP note 68440 or in the Product Availability Matrix (SMP login required for both).
