If the Internet of Things (IoT) is causing a wave of disruption, then the industrial machinery and components (IM&C) industry is poised to ride the crest.  So much so in fact, the term “Industrial Internet of Things” (IIoT) is now quite common.  Unlike many other sectors, industrial manufacturing has direct contact with millions of machines, equipment, and components that are ready to fully embrace technology and innovation.  Industrial manufacturers need to stay current with the latest technology to capitalize on emerging business opportunities and stay more than a few steps ahead of the competition.

According to IDC, the worldwide revenue opportunity presented by the IIoT is roughly US$746 billion by 2018 and the estimated revenue compound annual growth rate will be 18.8%.  Please download the CEO Perspective on the Internet of Things for the IM&C Industry to learn more about how Big Data, Analytics, and Platforms are all converging to drive new business models.

SAP currently offers the following solutions that help drive the IIoT:

  • SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service
  • SAP Connected Logistics
  • SAP Connected Manufacturing
  • SAP Augmented Reality App for Warehouse Personnel a
  • SAP Augmented Reality APP for Field Service Technicians

For more information on these products please vist the SAP Internet of Things web page.

Please read the Seizing Opportunity in the Industrial Internet of Things blog to discover how the IIoT can streamline the flow of information, enable real-time decisions, and enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty by connecting people, machines, products, and services across the world. We all know that the world of industrial manufacturing will be significantly transformed in the coming years, so it is essential that companies in this market explore the wide array of new technologies available to them.  The IIoT is one of these technologies that cannot be ignored.
