SAP has recently released the Maintenance Planner which can replace the Maintenance Optimizer in Solution Manager.   We still need Solution Manager and the Landscape Management Database (LMDB) which supplies the SAP Support Portal with information about our system.    Here's a video on using the tool to download an Enhancement Package for ERP.   Check it out and post any questions.

Please also check out priti.dhingra's Blog on Maintenance Planner and the SCN Wiki. Lastly make sure you have SAP Note 2002546 installed in Solution Manager to ensure you can directly upload system information to SAP from the LMDB.
