System landscape – analysis

Posted by Naor Shalom in SAP Solution Manager on Feb 22, 2012 8:30:35 AM

Introduction:

I want to share something interesting with you which is available in the system landscape (transaction SMSY) in Solution Manager.

We maintain a lot of managed systems in Solution Manager and sometimes we want to have a detailed overview of our managed systems.

For each system in SMSY we maintain details like: Product version, product instance, Data Source, system data, system type, system number, project landscape and system landscape – operation.

The report mentioned in this blog allows you to create a report of your system landscape.

Using the system landscape analysis:

You can create reporting on

  • Database.
  • Server.
  • System.
  • Technical system.
  • By project.
  • By product.
  • By solution.

Go to transaction code – SMSY click the tab utilities – and navigate to analysis.

Search for data source – in the data source you will see from where the systems register in the system landscape.

Excel report – you can export your report to excel and analyze your report.

What I would consider added value is:

1. It enables you to create a complete overview of your System Landscape

2. You have options available to format the report

3. It allows you to specify the search option.

In order to get that added value:

A prerequisite would be that all your managed SAP systems are present in the System Landscape because else your overview isn’t complete.
