Hello,

Recently I finished the installation of a new VM: a Netweaver 7.40, ABAP only.

The installation process is a little bit different than older releases, but nothing too complicated. As a matter of fact, my installation ran smoothly - no headaches, no BC-INS* messages needed!

So, at the end of the installation, a system with SAPKB74002 and kernel 7.40 patch level 14 was ready to be used.

First impression, after doing the pre-flight check in WEBGUI matters: enabling nodes/services in SICF, publishing services in SE80, and creating the ICM services in the instance profile (by default, no SERVER service is enabled in the NW7.40 installation, HTTP and SMTP services are created in port 0, i.e. for client communication only):

Pretty much the same as older releases, right? Where is the SAP Corbu theme?

Well, the new theme is available only as of a new kernel patch level: when patch level 18 was installed in the system, a new theme was being used:

SU01 + search help:

The parameter ~webgui_icon_toolbar=2 shows a nice set of icons in the new theme:

With kernel 7.40 patch level 23, an issue with the column width in search help was solved (in earlier kernel patch levels, a single column used all the visible width - one needed to scroll horizontally to see more fields):

Another difference is the way the saved/published information is displayed. In previous releases, one needed to double click the "Saved/published" label to open a popup with the publishing information. Now this is available in the Attributes tab:

From my experience, the webgui with the new theme is quite fast to display the content.

Cheers,

Cris
