Bangalore is an IT hub of India and its increasingly becoming the Software Delivery Center (SDC) for Global Companies. Many global companies are consolidating their IT division in Bangalore (or other parts of India). Most of the implementation and operation of IT solutions take place from here. Result of this is an increased opportunity for our team to closely work with these customers to implement Operations Control Center (OCC) – a setup to achieve high operational efficiency through Automation and effective exception management.
A reliable and feature-rich management platform would be a pre-requisite to achieve that and SAP Solution Manager Product provides the required functionality.
This brings to our team’s introduction. We are part of the vibrant development community at SAP Labs India, Bangalore. SAP Labs India is ranked 5th in “Great Place to Work – 2014”. We are from LM Solution Manager Development team. We work on the development of SAP Solution Manager Product, the latest release of which has more than 10,000 customers!
Customer Engagements
We are from Product development organization focusing on developing new features or enhancements in our product which aimed to reduce the Total cost of ownership for our SAP customers. Typically customer exposure to team members in R & D organizations is usually not very high... This statement is invalid for our team as at least one team member visits the customer onsite every week. Bangalore, being the IT hub in India, hosts not just IT Service companies like Infosys, Wipro, etc. but also major players in markets in their industry sectors like Philips, Daimler, Unilever. These global companies have their IT departments/organizations within Bangalore. One of our largest customers “UNILEVER” is just a walking distance from our office! We work with various large companies & SMEs in India on a regular basis – for rollout, consultation and implementation – with frequent visits in major cities such as Mumbai / Delhi / Chennai / Kolkata.
All these direct interactions with customers not only improve our products but also enhance the competency of individual colleagues and make them domain experts.
Product & Technology & Innovation
Our product, “SAP Solution Manager” is a central management platform for customers managing their IT landscape comprising SAP & non-SAP systems. This product is a major tool in implementing the concept of “Operations control center”.
On the technology front, we have evolved with every release. Staring off with ABAP Web Dynpro, moving on to Adobe Flash and now working on the latest technology SAPUI5 (HTML5 based) and industry standard protocols such as oData. This gives a great opportunity for the team members to develop themselves and stay up-to-date on latest developments. SAP Labs India organizes an Innovation event regularly and on top of that, our team runs an annual coding event. Results from these events feed either the Product Portfolio and/or filed as Invention Disclosures. We also participate / present in industry recognized conferences such as ICSE, Mobile Developer Summit to name a few, as part of our Thought leadership program.
Work & Life Balance
We follow Agile methodology when it comes to product development with “Open” & “Fun” culture within the teams. SAP Labs India offers flexible working hours, including work-from-home options and facilities like gym, basketball court, crèche, etc. We keep sharing appreciations & recognize each other’s efforts and also have open discussions and arguments when it comes to taking important decisions.
