SAP Labs France - The first thing you notice when you enter the local office at Mougins is a canvas with a hand-painted melange of words, created by the employees themselves. What do they mean? One word, 'Diversity' - and what it means for each of them. Which brings me to the topic of this blog post....

Quite recently, a pic contest was held in the local office as part of a competition run by the association IMS PACA. Being a recently hired employee at SAP, with all the zeal and enthusiasm of working in an enterprise as established as SAP, I decided to take part in it owing to what I've seen and experienced at my new place of work. And here's my entry and why I chose to present it this way :

The poster represents the major factors through which SAP Labs France values Diversity at work. Our company currently employs around 360 individuals coming from various walks of life. Though our local offices are based in France (across Mougins, Paris and Caen), we have more than 30 nationalities among us, which forms the foundation of the poster!

As is evident from the picture, each of the factors (shaped true to SAP’s corporate logo) relate to our company’s commitment to respecting and supporting our employees’ rights.

A bit more in detail :

#1 represents our diversity in terms of skills and expertise. With employees having expertise across domains such as Management , Development, Art & Design, Research, Marketing etc., SAP Labs France believes, employing individuals with different areas of expertise each not only benefits us as a company in attracting and retaining the best workforce but also helps employees build relationships with coworkers, partners and customers, which ultimately results in a friendly work environment.

#2 depicts our understanding and appreciation of factors which distinguish men and women which helps us engage more effectively in the workplace. It also represents equality in terms of gender and physical abilities.

#3 is all about how we, at SAP Labs France enjoy a variety of experiences brought about by different generations of people collaborating together every single day. From students and fresh graduates to the most experienced SAP employees, each generation contributes their share of ideas which results in a burst of creativity.

#4 is where the different factors of diversity reach a common ground and form a ‘culture’ at the workplace. It represents the networks formed by our employees which actively promote a culture of diversity within SAP globally.

To conclude, SAP Labs France is a place where everyone enjoys equal privileges irrespective of age, gender, culture and abilities. A place where each one's uniqueness is celebrated despite working together. which prompted me to title the poster 'Working independently together'!
