Last month SAP was a Bronze Sponsor for the 2015 ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference. Luis Colmenares from the Latinos@SAP Community and Robin Kusnick from the Early Talent Recruiting Team attended on behalf of SAP.

The Richard Tapia Conference's goal is to bring together undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, researchers, and professionals in computing from all backgrounds and ethnicities. The 2015 ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference was held on February 18-21, 2015 in Boston, MA. This year’s conference had over 800 attendees – making it the largest Tapia Conference to date!

Our participation helped engage with a very diverse pool of talented undergraduate, graduate, and PhD level candidates. SAP sponsored three students to participate in the conference which covered their registration and travel expenses. An appreciative recipient, Jahaziel Guzman stopped by our booth for the attached photo opportunity. He is of Hispanic background and will pursue an internship position at SAP in the hopes it will lead a future career.

A special thanks to Soledad Alvarado-Ganzhorn for the winning Tshirt design. We handed out over 200 shirts at the conference, including one to Mr Richard Tapia himself!

The conference is centric in inclusion, and the keynotes and breakout sessions were discussions around minority groups participating in technology. The attendees of this conference were students from many different levels with representation from universities like Texas A&M, Berkeley, Penn State, MIT, Georgia Tech and many others.

This conference was a great opportunity for SAP to tap into a very diverse pool of talent as well as present our initiatives around Inclusion and Diversity. We look forward to further participation from SAP next year at the 2016 Richard Tapia Conference in Austin.
