As part of this newly launched "success stories" blog series, we'll focus on an individual recognized for his/her outstanding performance in EMEA Early Talent. In this posting, we'll introduce you to Josien Vergroesen, who is a Sales Executive responsible for Customer Engagement and Commerce at SAP Nederland B.V.

    Josien Vergroesen

When did you join SAP?

I joined SAP in January 2014 as part of the SAP Sales Academy. I have spent three months of training in Dublin, California with a great group of young talents. René Kerp has coached me at the office in The Netherlands. He always took the time to explain, to let me experience, and to give good feedback. It has been a great experience so far.

What did SAP offer that drew you to the company?

SAP offers a bright future in a professional environment. There is a lot of possibility for growth within the company. The endless possibilities to learn and the large responsibility I get within my team made me decide to work for SAP.

What is your current role?

A few weeks ago, I started in my new role: Sales Executive Customer Engagement & Commerce with a focus on cloud solutions.

What was your experience before joining SAP?

I studied at the University for Hospitality Management in The Hague. In total, I spent 21 months abroad; in New Zealand, St. Lucia, and Kuala Lumpur. After graduating, I worked for three years at a company specialized in Mystery Shopping. During this job, I was responsible for the European Operations team and for maintaining the large global accounts. I did not have any IT experience before I joined SAP, but I have always focused on customer experience, which is very much in line with my current role.

What were some of the biggest successes for you so far at SAP?

I think I am most proud of how quickly I blended in at SAP. I have no IT background, but I must say that after this year I am happily surprised by the knowledge I have gained. Also I have been able to show my creativity, which adds a lot of fun to the job and positively surprises colleagues and customers.

What is your vision for your future at SAP based on your successes so far?

When I think about the future, my short-term focus is to succeed next year. Which for me means: achieving my quota but also staying creative and continuing to learn at least as much as I did this year. So far, every day I came to work with a big smile because I love my job. My main goal is to keep this positive attitude  throughout my career.
