User Defined Palettes in Lumira


We have introduced a new feature called “User Defined Palette” in release 1.30 of SAP Lumira. Now the user can modify the colors and create his own color Palette for charts.

Two types of color palettes are supported in Lumira

  • Dimension Palette
  • Measure Palette

Palettes can be created from two places:

  • Preferences
  • From Visualization


Creating Palettes from preferences:

User can create his own Palette from the preferences and can set as default to use it for all the charts.


Dimension Palette:

  • Open the Preferences dialog from File Menu and click on the Charts tab.Then click on the dropdown for Dimension Palette

                    

  • Then click on Create Dimension Palette in the dropdown. A new dialog comes up which is Create Dimension Palette with color swatches and color picker

                    

  • Then select the colors for all or few boxes with ‘+’ icons, And give a name for the Palette click ‘Done’

               

  • Created Dimension Palette will be displayed in the dropdown under User Defined Palettes section. If we select the palette it’ll be set to default

               

The created Palette can be edited and deleted from the dropdownlist by clicking on the ‘Edit’ and ‘Delete’ options available on hover.


Measure Palette:-

Measure Palette can be represented in two ways:

  • Single gradient
  • Dual Gradient


Single Gradient Measure Palette Creation:

  • Open the Preferences dialog from File Menu and click on the Charts tab. Then dropdown the Measure Palette

                             

  • Then click on Create Measure Palette in the dropdown, A new dialog comes up which is Create Measure Palette with Palette boxes , Number of Colors and color picker

                              

  • Select the color for first box ‘+’ icons, And give a name for the Palette say ‘Done’, Single color Gradient will be generated

                             


Dual Gradient Measure Palette creation:


Follow the same steps mentioned for single Gradient, Select first box and select the color and select the last box and select the color with ‘+’ icons, And give a name for the Palette say ‘Done’, Dual color Gradient Palette is generated.

                             

All Created Measure Palette will be displayed in the dropdown under Custom Palettes section, if we select the palette it will be set to default

                             

The created Palette can be edited and deleted from the dropdownlist by clicking on the ‘Edit’ and ‘Delete’ options available on hover.


Creating Palettes from choose colors:


User can modify some of/all the colors from the existing palettes and define his own colors.


Dimension Palette:

  • Create a bar chart , right click and click on choose colors(or can be selected from the cog wheel on right top)

              

  • We get a Choose Colors dialog with the list of all palettes created, If we want to Customize the Palette click on Customize Dimension Palette

                              

  • Customize Dimension Palette dialog comes with reference colors filled

                                      

  • We can change the individual colors and use it for the visualization without saving it to the set of palettes, or it can be saved as a new palette, If we don’t save the Platte , it shows as Custom in the dropdownlist

                                   


Measure Palette:

  • Create a Heat Map, right click and click on choose colors (or can be selected from the cog wheel on right top

                   

  • We get a Choose Colors dialog with the list of all palettes created and options to modify the colors and threshold as well

                                  

  • If we want to change the color Gradient click on first or last box then select the color, the palette will be displayed as custom in the dropdown

                        

  • We can change the colors in the between also by unselecting Apply Color Gradient checkbox, and Palette can be saved as well
