Did you ever wonder why you can easily email pictures and some text to a printing service provider and within a day you can hold hundreds of glossy flyers in your hands with exactly your pictures on shining in vibrant colors? Well, that's exactly what was demonstrated at the Print & Packaging Innovation Day 2014! - But let's start from the beginning...
It started with a picture
With 23 participants from 12 companies out of the industry the Print & Packaging Innovation Day 2014 created a high level of interest among small and mid-sized companies out of DACH region. Add another 15 participants from SAP partners all for one / Steeb, Sybit, Dr. Lauterbach, and there was a lot of knowledge brought together in one place. In the morning it all started with taking a picture of the group.
Then it was all about providing information
The message was clear - modern businesses need fully integrated processes. Whether it's about business process integration (between line-of-business like sales, production, etc.) or it's about technical integration of design tools with sales or (printing) machines with production planning - it's all about having the right information on hand at the right time. And this can be achieved through integrated applications running on one reliable platform. Presentations shown during the innovation day included topics such as:
- SAP solution platform for printing and packaging industries
- Innovation in CRM
- Detailed solution overview for Print & Packaging with demos
- How to provide industry-relevant KPIs
- Hosting options available from all for one / Steeb
While listening to these presentations the picture taken in the morning was sent to a printing service provider along with information about desired format, color, text, and a few more details. The printing service started working on the order immediately.
Finally the printed flyers arrived in only 6 hours!
It was only 6 hours after the picture was taken when an employee of a well-known parcel delivery service arrived on SAP premises carrying a compact parcel. And guess what? It contained a hundred flyers with the picture taken in the morning! But how could they process that order so quickly? Well, producing and supplying a large number of product variations, just in time, within a day, and in a profitable way - you can only achieve this with full process automation.
