This Is How Predictive Quality Management Functions

The goal of predictive quality management (QM) is to detect quality defects in products before they are mass-produced. "Predictive quality management means looking at historical data of a product and then developing a predictive model based on the data," Timo Deiner, Internet-of-Things expert at SAP, explains. "Our goal is to replace physical quality test by forecasts, thereby reducing QM costs… ultimately enabling better products." Two practical examples of how SAP systems can make quality management more efficient can be found in the steel industry and at the Koehler Paper Group.
