This years SAPPHIRE conference in Madrid was an outstanding event. If you weren’t able to get there, you can settle in with your mobile device or laptop and catch replays of some of the best sessions. Here are three that you might like:

More than 50 SAP partners participated in the EMEA/DACH Mobile App Challenge with mobile apps developed on SAP Mobile Platform. A jury of mobile experts and SAP executives voted for the best candidates.

The SAP Mobile Apps Partner Program supports and promotes third party developers engaged in building world-class apps on SAP Mobile Platform and selling them through SAP Store. “Customers don’t buy technology today. They buy solutions, often in the form of apps” says Clemens Suter-Crazzolara. “We know that in the future, 80% of our apps will come from partners. Having more apps adds value to the SAP platform. We currently have 120 partners in our program and are adding a couple of new partners every day” say Suter-Crazzolara.  Proxia, Sovanta and DS Group were the finalists of this challenge:

  • Proaxia’s Mobile Service Advisor- Field Service mobile app for service representatives of car dealer
  • Sovanta’s Citizen App – Connects citizens with the city and provides important information on public services
  • DS Group’s Business Pad, which assembles content and publishes it  to iPad

Vasco Pires of SAP’s Value Engineering Group shared insights on how to Develop a Business Case for Enterprise Mobility, and answered some of the burning mobility questions that he hears most often from customers: What is the ROI of enterprise mobility? When will I see it? How and where do I get started with mobility? How do I ensure I am approaching mobility in the most cost effective manner?

Willie Jow, Vice President of Enterprise Mobility discussed how to use managed mobility services to benefit from the higher productivity and efficiency enabled by enterprise mobility without the huge up-front investment and added complexity. “Mobile initiatives have to move on a much different timeline than we are used to in traditional systems of record” says Jow.  “We can’t take 18 months to roll out a mobile solution, because in 18 months the landscape will have changed - probably very dramatically.”  For CIOs the challenge is to rapidly and efficiently develop a mobility skillset. For global CIOs, the bar is even higher because they need duplicates of mobility skill sets for multiple geographies that the company operates in. “SAP’s Managed Mobility solutions can overcome many barriers to entry” says Jow.
