Hello SAP Mobile Platform Community Members,

I thought it would be valuable for you to become aware that the SUP Administration course is now available as eLearning. The eLearning course SUP62e: SAP Sybase Unwired Platform Administration teaches you how to perform the required activities and tasks associated with an SAP Sybase Unwired Platform administrator. You will learn the architecture and various components that make up the Sybase Unwired Platform, as well as learn what is supported from the the development perspective, MDM, device and back-end connectivity options and administering and managing all related tasks.

The installation of a real-world production environment is discussed at length, including the use of clusters and relay servers. Content also includes inter-role activities and coordinations, such as understanding the Administrator role vis-a-vis what developers must perform in development before and during hand-off. This is important, because in many scenarios, the administration of mobile applications requires that certain tasks be accomplished by both the developer and the platform or domain administrator.

The SUP62e eLearning course contains over 75 simulations and demonstrations, whereby you have the option to first view the task at hand performed and then try it yourself in a simulated environment. This methodology will increase your experience level in performing typical yet critical dat-to-day administrative tasks. Such tasks include:

  • Deployment of Mobile Business Object packages
  • Generation of Mobile Workflow or HWC applications to the Unwired Server
  • Post deployment configuration
  • Role creation and registration of application users, etc.
  • Security configurations, securing listeners/ports with encryption - configuring HTTPS and IIOPS listeners
  • Creation of physical users and groups in an underlying store (such as Active Directory) and mapping of logical to physical roles

The use of the SAP SCC will be a major part of this course. With the SCC simulations and demonstrations, you will gain experience with SAP Mobile Platform’s continual maintenance requirements, Monitoring capabilities, learn where to look and what to change with regards to Performance and Tuning concerns, steps to take when troubleshooting application issues, and understand how DCNs are created and how they are used by the platform.

This eLearning course is a self-paced option for you to get the training you need when you need it. If you are interested, you can read more about this new course at: https://training.sap.com/course/sup62e-elearning-sup-21-administration-e-learning-097-g-en/

I surely hope that this article is helpful in your efforts to gain more and faster skills in the area of SAP Mobile Platform. Best of success to all of you!
