Last week, I started a blog series about the 5 parts of an enterprise-grade mobile environment. In the first blog of the series I described the first piece, mobile apps, of the puzzle in my post. In case you missed the first three, you can read both by clicking on these links:  5 Parts of an Enterprise-Grade Mobile Infrastructure Blog Series – Part 1 , 5 Parts of an Enterprise-Grade Mobile Infrastructure Blog Series – Part 2, 5 Parts of an Enterprise-Grade Mobile Infrastructure Blog - Part 3, and 5 Parts of an Enterprise-Grade Mobile Infrastructure Blog - Part 4.

A reminder that there are 5 pieces that make up an enterprise-grade mobile environment and I will explain each part in this 5 part blog series. This blog will focus on the fifth and final piece of the puzzle; ‘end-to-end support and administration for all applications and devices’.

The final piece to this puzzle is about optimizing the mobile solutions that make up parts one through four. Many investments are made in the areas of mobile apps, middleware, devices, security and management tools and companies want to make the most of these investments. While the bulk of an organization enjoys and benefits from mobile devices and apps, the responsibility of end-to-end support and administration for all applications and devices typically falls to the IT manager or mobile project lead.

In the fall of 2012 I recorded a video with my coworker jens.koernertitled ‘The Forgotten One’. In this short clip we talk about the IT manager, administrator or mobile project lead that needs to support many apps and devices. This individual is often faced with a quilt of mobile solutions that do not talk to each other and they need to optimize the mobile environment using many tools and technologies. Does this sound familiar?

There is hope for this individual. There are mobile solutions that address parts one through four of the enterprise-grade mobile infrastructure and are integrated to enable IT leaders to deliver secure, integrated, and scalable mobile apps to employees and consumers on any device, anywhere. Note that the solutions are only part of the strategy, the ability to make joint mobile investments between the business and mobile leads is what ultimately will result in a successful, enterprise-grade mobile environment.  Since this blog series is about the solutions and infrastructure, I will focus on this piece in this blog but know that they are not the only component.

Solutions that offer end-to-end support and administration for all applications and devices are integrated mobile application development
platforms (MADP) and mobile device management (MDM). Our team recently developed a video that outlines integrated MADP and MDM technologies and how IT Leaders can deploy and operate mobile apps on any mobile device. You can view it here:

This concludes part 5 of the 5 pieces that make up the enterprise-grade mobile infrastructure and this blog series. I hope that this series has given you helpful information and ideas about potential solutions that your organization could use in the building of your own enterprise-grade mobile infrastructure.
