Tom KendraFINAL

Tom Kendra, VP and General Manager of Dell Software, is no stranger to mobility. Kendra has been a figurehead of mobility over at Dell, constantly advocating mobile solutions and integration into wireless systems, hoping to get Dell the leading man parts it wants in the mobility show. He recently sat down with Dana Gardner in an interview for ZDNet. In the interview, Kendra highlighted all of the areas of interest in mobility for large as well as enterprise companies.

The main thrust of Kendra’s argument is that an overall, “pan-client” strategy is essential when deploying mobility. Incomplete solutions and a client-by-client basis for integrating and deploying mobility have severely reduced the positive effects of going mobile, which can be especially damaging for enterprise businesses. In a world where BYOD is becoming second-nature for companies (espcially in the tech field), having no set standards for dealing with business data on devices can cause major problems.

“The range of available options is wide, and many organizations have experimented with numerous approaches. Now, we’ve gotten to the point where we have the unique opportunity — today and over the next couple of years — to think about how we consolidate these approaches into a more integrated, holistic mobility solution that elevates data security and mobile workforce productivity,” explains Kendra.

The whole interview between Gardner and Kendra is available for listening here, and is full of excellent advice for mobility companies.
