SAP partner Mocana recently announced its Atlas extended enterprise platform, a solution that simplifies the deployment of securely connected enterprise mobile apps. For those of you following SAP’s Mobile Secure portfolio, I would like share how this new solution can be paired with SAP Mobile App Protection by Mocana, a key component of out EMM solution, that provides app-level security.

Matt Perry, global head, Mobile Secure, SAP, was quoted in the July 10th press release saying “SAP and Mocana share a common vision of promoting the mainstream adoption of mobile apps in the enterprise to help simplify the mobile experience for users while further protecting enterprise assets with very strong security capabilities.” This focus on simplicity is core to SAP’s mobile security strategy and driving our future direction.

When Mocana Atlas is paired with SAP Mobile App Protection, customers can increase secured application reach into back-office systems, unlocking intranet sites, Web applications and back-office systems. While this hardware solution is not required to use SAP Mobile App Protection, it does provide an alternative to companies who may want more that a standard IP-Sec VPN tunnel connecting to company backend systems.

We like the approach Mocana is taking, doing everything they can to “keep it simple” for both IT and end users who spend countless hours tethered to their mobile devices. The cool thing about Atlas is that it makes the mobile app experience simple for end users while meetings the stringent security and control requirements that IT demands – for the large-scale deployments that are common with SAP customers.

My friend and colleague Alan Panezic summed up very nicely how the “old world” doesn’t line up with our new mobile reality. I agree with him that in order to achieve success in mobile it is important to provide alternatives that move beyond the remote access solutions of the laptop and PC era. He stated that “Atlas is the first end-to-end platform that is purpose-built to bring a true mobile app experience to organizations at a fraction of today’s cost.”

I’ve also had the pleasure of also working Jason Russo, mobility lead at Colgate-Palmolive who is a joint Mocana and SAP customer. In the press release Jason is quoted saying “Colgate-Palmolive is at the forefront of enterprise mobility, and as a Mobile App Protection customer, we appreciate innovations like the Mocana Atlas extended enterprise platform, which is designed to help us scale our mobile transformations globally and securely.”

We’re excited to be working with an innovator like Mocana and great customers like Colgate-Palmolive to redefine what security means in a mobile world. SAP customers can purchase Mobile App Protection from SAP directly, and can contact Mocana for the Atlas hardware.
