A press release was published today highlighting a new initiative with SAP and Accenture, which is branded as “Upstream Production Operations by Accenture and SAP”.
Accenture and SAP have each identified upstream operations as a key growth area. Addressing the challenges in upstream production operations has become very important to industry. The aim of the program is both the technology and process issues associated with hydrocarbon production. Accenture and SAP plan to design and develop business applications that will integrate multiple functions, such as forecasting, measurement, production accounting, operations, and maintenance with the aim of increasing the efficiency of oil and gas companies upstream asset operations. This will include applications, advanced analytics and reporting capabilities, mobile capabilities, pre-packaged offerings, and templates based on industry-leading practices. The goal is to help customers rapidly leverage the new innovations in database technology that SAP has delivered with the introduction of its SAP HANA® platform.
The collaboration between Accenture and SAP allows the two companies to bring to bear their individual strengths to the solution. The result will be a solution that has deep industry content with tried and tested technology.
