On this day three years ago, we sat with a group of colleagues feeling excited yet nervous as our new project, openSAP, was going live to the world. Three years on and we are so proud of what openSAP has achieved so far and we’re honored to be a part of the team that developed from the original project team in 2013. We’re also proud to say that we were on the first leg of SAP’s overall journey to become a leader in Digital Learning, under the direction of bernd.welz Executive Vice President, Scale, Enablement and Transformation at SAP.

It’s been an enjoyable journey to date and with every new course, we’re excited to see the reaction from the SAP Ecosystem and beyond – especially when it’s a new SAP topic, such as SAP S/4HANA was in 2015. If you’re a regular at openSAP, you will already know that just before the close of 2015, we reached over one million course enrollments. This was an exhilarating milestone for the entire team at openSAP and we’re already looking forward to reaching the next million!

So what have we achieved to date?

Just after we reached the one million milestone in December, Q1/2016 saw an incredible growth at openSAP with the most new unique learners joining openSAP in one month (March) and in one quarter (Q1/2016). In addition to new unique users, we also saw the highest number of new course enrollments on openSAP in one month (March) and one quarter (Q1/2016). As if those numbers were not enough, we also saw Implementation of SAP S/4HANA start with the highest number of enrolled learners at the start of an openSAP course: with 25,252 enrolled learners on day one (At the end of the course, there were 36,633 enrolled learners).  Q2/2016 also got off to a great start with the Developing Web Apps with SAPUI5 – within the first three days more than 7,725 learners already enrolled!

If you follow our courses, you’ll also know that at the end of each course, we share the statistics on SCN to show how many learners successfully complete the course – that is, the number of people who have completed the weekly assignments and final exam to earn a Record of Achievement and scored over 50% of the available points. We’re proud to say that our courses generally have a 20-35% successful completion rate. We’re also happy to announce that since September 2015, 12,760 users have received an openSAP badge on SCN while earning a Record of Achievement in an openSAP course.

Since openSAP started, learners have had the opportunity to provide feedback via the “I like, I wish” forum within each course. We receive a high volume of comments and we enjoy reading all of these. We take this feedback to continuously improve our platform and course content. In September 2015, we also started a survey within our courses to gain some quantitative feedback from our participants. To date, we’ve had over 15,000 responses from learners and here are the results:

How satisfied are you with the openSAP learning experience?

>98% satisfied or very satisfied

How satisfied are you with the course content?

>95% satisfied or very satisfied

Do you think the skills taught in the course will help you in your (future) work?

>94% say YES

Do you plan to take additional openSAP courses in the future?

>98% say YES

This feedback gives us a good feeling that we’re going in the right direction with openSAP and motivates us to develop even further. We’re working ona number of enhancements behind the scenes so stay tuned to further updates!

Here are some interesting facts from the past three years

If you’ve joined our courses already, we would like to thank you for actively taking part in discussions, challenging our experts with questions, and providing us with feedback. If you haven’t yet joined us, what are you waiting for? All courses remain available in self-paced mode so you can still learn about SAP’s innovations in our Enterprise MOOCs and from thought leaders in digital transformation on openSAP Thought Leaders!

And finally, a HUGE THANK YOU to the openSAP team and everyone involved in creating the courses and delivering them to our audience. There are too many to mention and if we start, we will surely forget someone but you know who you are. We look forward to continuing the openSAP story and working with teams across SAP to deliver further courses for you to enjoy!

Happy Friday
