This blog explains about different installation options provided by SAP for PI7.30 and PI7.31.This blog mainly targets for the developers/PI consultants who are trying to get more information about new release of PI7.3.
In general PI comes with standard installation with both ABAP stack and JAVA stack up to release PI7.11 however from PI7.3 along with standard installation (Dual stack) we have optional installation which runs on single Java stack we call it as Advanced Adapter Engine Extended (AEX) which alone does not support for ccBPM.

Option 1:
Process integration with standard installation provides both ABAP and JAVA stacks which supports all functionalities of PI.
Option 2:
Optional standalone Installation runs on single java stack which supports for all PI functionalities expect for ccBPM. Please find below screen for more information.
To support BPM functionality in java stack along with standard PI functionalities, In PI 7.31 we have new installation option which supports for PI, BPM and BRM we call it as Process Integration and Orchestration package. Please find below screen.
With the above package we can make use of (or to some extent) all the ABAP stack functionalities like IDOC, HTTP and ccBPM (BPM) on Java stack.
