The only DMM revision in this issue is something that doesn't impact Presort directly, that being the definition of a "low-cost item" for 2013. For non-profits who are claiming to mail a "low-cost item," for 2013 that item can't cost them more than $10.20.
The rest of this issue is what I would call "normal" stuff for the PB - some updates to the IMM, minor PO adjustments, a "Mail Alert" section warning of large mailings being entered in the next few weeks, what commemorative postmarks are available, etc.
Since we are in the midst of trying to wrap up the software changes needed for the rate case implementation coming on January 27, I'm going to leave this short and sweet and get back to that work. If you haven't looked at any of the changes coming then, I suggest that you look at the Federal Register Notice (FRN) from October that describes the changes, but there are also other items being implemented at the same time. For example, the use of POSTNET barcode will no longer qualify for automation pricing, and the Intelligent Mail package barcode will be required in many cases for any presorted pricing.
Just before I get back to work, let me point out that if you're not familiar with the changes coming to the USPS Labeling Lists schedules, you should take a look. More info is available on the RIBBS site here. The biggest thing at a high level is that instead of having roughly 75 days to transition from the old (or current) lists to the new ones when they are updated, you will have basically 30 days to make the transition. If you prepare some mailings well ahead of their entry, this seems sure to affect you.
Just two PBs left for 2012, and one of them should include Label List updates for the start of 2013. Check back in a couple weeks for the next update.
