As the previous years, the International Focus Group for Integration (IFG for Integration) performed its annual survey for SAP Process Integration and topics around SAP integration. The survey was scheduled from May till August 2016.

The survey contained 33 questions. Compared to the previous surveys we removed questions that addressed similar topics or gave no new insights any more.

Many thanks to all of the 381 participants from all five continents that replied to our survey!

The results will be published in two separate blogs. This first one covers the general questions about SAP XI/PI/PRO and SAP integration. The second blog will cover the results of this year's focus topic 'cloud integration, OData and SAP Gateway' and will be published in the first half of October. The complete survey results are forwarded to all participants who have included their email address in the survey registration.

Survey Results

The following section shows an extract of the results.

Number of participants: 381

Participants per user group:

Used productive release (XI, PI, PO):

(multiple selections possible if parallel instances with different releases in use)

Number of interfaces (counting point-to-point connections):

Used tool for Enterprise Services Repository:

Main reasons not to use NWDS for ESR:

Used tool for configuration:

Main reasons not to use NWDS for configuration:

Use of central PI monitoring on SAP Solution Manager:

Use of additional interface frameworks and monitoring tools:

Compared to the previous year's performance and stability has further improved and continued to be no critical issue, while monitoring remains a pain point. Interesting but not really surprising finding is the low adaption rate of NetWeaver Developer Studio for the development and configuration and that the main of point of criticism was usability.

Look out for part 2 of the survey to be published in the first half of October.
