Monday Knowledge Snippet (MKS) - 47 Dynamically adjust Load Plan settings

By default the behavior of the load planning function available for freight orders is defined by the load planning settings. This settings profile is attached to a planning profile, which is selected for a example when entering the transportation cockpit for manual planning. The load planning settings define on vehicle type level which rules shall be applied to create a reasonable, law conform und optimized load plan fitting the business needs. Nevertheless, during scenario setup and in exceptional cases, it is cumbersome to test and overwrite the standard behavior using every time the settings profile. Therefore it is possible to dynamically overrule those settings within a cockpit session.

So let's start with a standard cockpit session, a selected freight order and its already available load plan. The 3-D visualization using SAP Visual Business shows, that the plan is kind of sub-optimal.

So the planner opens the 'Change Planning Settings' dialog and switches to the 'Load Planning Settings' tab. Here he can see that the current plan was created using a stack weight limit of 750kg.

The planner realizes that this is too low and adjusts the value.

Then he re-runs the load planning and checks the result. He can see that now the space is used better and still the axle maximums are below the limits. Now he can save the plan. In case he has identified that the defined maximum within the settings profile is in general too low he can adjust this within the profile, or treat this freight order as exception.

I think this is a good way to define a default behavior by using the settings profile and still have the power during scenario setup, testing and for exceptional cases to flexibly react. It is not only possible to change an existing rule, but also possible to add or remove rules.

Of course it is possible to disable this dynamic adjustment using user authorization in companies where strict rules apply and only a limited user group is allowed to change the load planning rules.
