Even with all the hype about the cloud and plenty of case studies, some companies are still reluctant to adopt the technology. Often, this reluctance is a result of the lack of education and understanding surrounding why cloud adoption might be the best strategy to improve business processes and/or create a positive impact on their company’s bottom line.

To help companies understand why cloud adoption is on the rise and could be a key to improving their business processes, here are three key reasons why some companies are choosing to adopt and implement cloud technology strategies to run their businesses better.

  1. Accessibility – One of the most beneficial capabilities of cloud computing is the power to store information and make it accessible from anywhere. Companies who have a mobile strategy and have remote workers need to consider the ease (or lack thereof) of employees accessing data. As an example, if your company has a central database or drive where information is stored, it may only be available when you’re logged into a specific network and in the office. By using a cloud-based storage system or cloud-based software, anyone, anywhere can access the information with the proper login credentials and security clearance.

  2. Efficiency – Running cloud applications can be far more efficient and increase speed in processing data. Because cloud-based applications do not require hardware, there is less of a strain on resources and companies do not have to invest in on-premise support. This alternative could reduce costs and mitigate risks that come with having an IT department engulfed in on-premise hardware management.

  3. Scalability – Whether a company is expanding or scaling back, cloud applications provide the flexibility to increase and decrease capacity to successfully run the business. This is a cost-efficient function for companies who are seasonal or can predict when there will be heavier use (times that require more bandwidth) and times when too much would be a waste.

If any of these reasons ring true, it might be time to make a move, but before moving, it’s important to know how to proceed and adopt cloud solutions and create the best environment to suit company needs.
