Introduction

Over the last few months, I've had the pleasure of working with a fantastic team of professionals from NetBase as we create a 'solution extension' partnership with them. Today, we're formally announcing this partnership with a press release.

This partnership will allow the SAP sales force to resell the NetBase social media analytics solution.

What Is Announced Today?

SAP will be able to resell, and support the NetBase social media analytics solution.  The solution will be called 'SAP Social Media Analytics by NetBase'.

What Does SAP Social Media Analytics by NetBase Do?

It is a cloud based solution for analyzing the sentiment expressed in the social web. Enter a brand or product, and the solution will tell you the:

  • Most common things that are being said about the brand.
  • The trend of positive sentiment vs negative sentiment over time.
  • The emotions being expressed towards that brand (like, love)
  • The behaviors being expressed towards that brand (want, buy, return)

Users can access this sentiment analysis data through the web based UI, or a web services API.

How Does SAP Social Media Analytics by NetBase Do It?

Every day, the solution indexes over 95 million posts to Facebook, Twitter, and blogs.  These are managed in the social intelligence warehouse where these insights are made available through the web based UI, and to custom applications that use the web services API.

There's considerable business value locked up in the social web.  Organizations that can access this value, and integrate it into their business process can see improvements across many use cases, including:

We are working today to integrate this with over 20 new and planned on-premise and on-demand solutions and modules.  

SAP Social Media Analytics by NetBase does not require any other SAP solution to provide business value.  It is a complete solution and can be used standalone, as well as integrated with other solutions.

Relationship With the Text Data Processing 

We feel this partnership complements our existing Text Data Processing tool.

  • SAP Social Media Analytics (SMA) is a complete sentiment analysis solution including web crawlers and social intelligence warehouse.  It is not a platform for data management.
  • SMA is optimized for consuming web based social media data on the web.
  • Text Data Processing (TDP) is a component of Data Services, which is a complete data management platform.
  • TDP is an engine that can consume text and analyze sentiment from any source - either on premise or web data sources.In addition to analyzing sentiment, TDP also identifies entitites, relationships, and events.
