Welcome to the SAP Jam Collaboration release 1608 highlights.  This document showcases the most notable new capabilities and changes of SAP Jam Collaboration.  For a complete listing of all changes in this release, please refer to the release notes located in the SAP Jam help area at http://help.sap.com/sapjam .

Company and administrative

Dynamic member lists / managed member lists / profile-based dynamic member lists

New in this release are profile-based dynamic member lists which are effectively replacing the existing “auto groups” capability with new and expanded functionality.   The pre-existing auto-group capability allowed for the creation of groups that had their membership based on an employee profile fields such as department or start date.   As membership in the groups were based on the employee profile field, it didn’t allow for mixed-membership, meaning, you can’t have a list of required employees and have the group open to anyone else that may like to join.  This is now possible with the dynamic member lists.

Role-based alias user accounts.

Company administrators can now create role-based alias user accounts where one or more SAP Jam users can be assigned to use the alias user account. An alias user account enables employees to easily identify a point of contact for specific interaction, and to “speak on behalf” of the role. For example, for new hire employees of a large, global organization, it is easier to contact a user named "HR Helpdesk" with HR related questions than it is to find out the name of the exact person.

Integration

External SAP SuccessFactors Learning (LMS) user to SAP Jam external user alignment

External SuccessFactors Learning users can now browse, sort, filter, and comment on learning items, curriculum, and scheduled offerings in SAP Jam. When an external learning user registers for an account on a SuccessFactors Learning site, they are automatically provided with an external account in SAP Jam. External learning users have the same access privileges as regular SAP Jam external users who are invited to SAP Jam via email.

SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer tasks visibility

SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer tasks data now displays in SAP Jam. Specifically, it can appear in the hover cards, business record browser, business record viewer, business record lists, related business record lists, and business record widgets for the group overview and home pages.  This makes it even easier for sales and service reps to see important information that would normally only be accessible in the business application – saving time and providing the useful information they need directly within the SAP Jam group.

Push notifications

A new and important integration and developer capability is the ability to use push notifications.  This enables real-time, autonomous applications to interact with business data and employees within SAP Jam.    Developers can have updates pushed to your application instead of continually polling for new updates. This allows integrations to be responsive to real-time events occurring in SAP Jam as well as for autonomous applications to respond to @mention requests.

Group functionality

Customizable event categories

A popular feature request from customers is now available – the ability to customize the event categories used in groups.    You can now add up to five custom categories (in addition to the existing categories) and tailor them to your group’s specific needs.  The category name can be updated at any time in the future as well as your needs change. Additionally, event widgets on group overview pages can use the custom categories for filtering purposes.

Mirrored content

Designate who can mirror.  As additional usage of the popular “Document mirroring” capability grows, we continue to receive feedback from customers about how privacy and administration of mirrored content impacts their workflows.  To address administrative needs, and more specifically, need to expand whom can mirror a specific piece of content, the content author can now designate someone else in the group to be able to mirror content. This is important if you have users of a group that aren’t administrators but are responsible for aggregating and promoting content across multiple groups.

For example,  if I publish a new SAP Jam sales presentation to my group, but want my colleagues in SuccessFactors Product Marketing to also be able to mirror the presentation to their groups for visibility to their audience, I can now designate specific people to be able to do this – freeing me from having to do all the mirroring myself.
