In today’s topic we are going to learn about how to search SAP notes and SAP Knowledge Base Articles (KBA) through SAP ONE Support Launchpad

How to Search for SAP notes and SAP Knowledge Base Articles?

 

In order to search for SAP notes and SAP Knowledge Base Articles you need to open SAP ONE Support Launchpad

 

Once you have it open click on Fins a Solution tile under “Solutions / Incidents”



For Example:

 

You are in ERP Production system and getting error when trying to display a material document from the purchase order history for an item in transaction ME23N, the dump CONVT_OVERFLOW occurs in program SAPLEINR.

 

How are you going to perform search on this error?

You already know from previous question where to look for SAP Note. Once you have search window open start typing error in search box shown as below

 

My search term is : SAPLEINR CONVT_OVERFLOW ME23N

Tip: Try to provide keywords in search term including error and transaction code (This will narrow down search results)




Now as you see below I have found one SAP note for my error. Click on it to open it.




How to find SAP note is applicable to my system or not?

 

Once you have SAP note open go to section “Software Components” as shown below for example note



As I can see this note is released for SAP_APPL 604, 605, 606, 616 and 617 versions.

 

Now in SAP system go to Menu item System and Status… to check our Software Component version.



 

Click on button shown as below under system data



Now you will see screen as below. Search for software component  mention by SAP note and look for it’s version

On same SAP note you can see Support Packages section. Looking at this screen you can say correction for your error is in SAP_APPL 606 Support Pack 15 available (SAPKH – SW comp.; 606 – SW com. Ver.; 15 – Support pack ) OR Apply this note to fix issue.

What is Prerequisites section in SAP note?

This section is referring that applying this sap note needs to meet prerequisites shown as below. We need to make sure we meet prerequisites prior apply this note to our system.

When applying one or more support packages, it is possible that some notes in the support packages may cause harmful side-effects in other areas of your SAP system. When SAP has identifies this situation, a new note will be created to correct the side-effect problem. This note will eventually be included in a future support package.

If you are planning to apply one or more support packages, you can use the report on Side-Effects of SAP Notes to find out what additional notes you need to apply to correct anyside-effect conditions.

 

Tip for the day:

If you know SAP Note number and you want to open that SAP note directly without going in to search. You have this option available direct on main screen on SAP Support website main page.
