Summer from a weather, and work perspective, is almost over !

Little by little, relatives, friends and colleagues start to come back from their vacations. We go back to work, children go back to school and therefore, more and more cars begin to circulate in , up to know, empty cities. All this means, that one year more, we are going to spend more and more money on fuel and time being stuck in traffic jums.

But the cure is already here: last 30th of April, TwoGo by SAP was launched in Spain!

And you will be wondering, what is TwoGo? It is a new, mobile, cloud delivered ride sharing services for enterprises.

Yes, we know, there are other ride-sharing applications in the market, but what makes TwoGo different is that the tool automatically matches up employees who are looking to share rides based on their preferred timing, location and other factors, rather than making users go through lists to find partners that fit their schedules. Users got an email, and SMS, with their ride partner and ride sharing information. It is easy to use, quick and flexible!

TwoGO began as a grassroot initiative 2 years ago. It was created by two developers who wanted to commute at weekends to their home city but were not convinced  by the ride sharing tools that were available in the market. As good developers, they started to build up their own tool. At some stage, they were convinced by our SAP Sustainability Office, Peter Graff, to stay in SAP and not create their own company. And the Sustainability area commited to sponsor the project.

Since then, TwoGo has been rolled out in different SAP locations: Germany, Singapore, EEUU, Canada, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Hungary. And also is now available for our customers, as the application was released as TwoGo by SAP last April 9th.

I truly believe that TwoGo is a great example of what we are trying to achieve within our Sustainability strategy: it is an application that helps us to meet our CO2 emissions targets, reduce costs for our company and employees (in terms of miles driven as well as the gallons of fuel)  and build up a more social, connected company as bring people together, providing an opportunity to learn and network.

For me this is the beauty of this solution. It touchs the 3 legs: economical, enviromental and social.

Who knows? Maybe in the future the tool can be used to reduce traffic problems around the world and help people to come closer together, especially in big cities. At least, this is the wish of the fathers of the criature, Jens Lehmann and David Sommer.

Congratulations guys! Thanks for making it possible.
