SAPinsider HR 2013 was abuzz with HR and IT leaders seeking insights into how they can leverage their existing SAP HCM investment and expand into cloud-based HR with SuccessFactors.  From what I could gather, most customers seemed excited to have so many good options to pick from!

Learning was top of mind for many attendees – and for SAP Education!  BNSF shared the secrets to their success implementing SAP Learning Solution for their 40,000 employees.  One lesson they learned was the importance of clear communication between the business and IT.  As is usually the case with communications, misunderstood terms and expectations can lead to costly mistakes.

Social collaboration was also a hot topic.  SuccessFactors’ product manager, Petra Ligthart, reminded us that collaboration is best leveraged within a business process.  Walking through the example of new employee onboarding provided a perfect example.

At the SAP Education booth, social learning was the key topic of discussion.  We gathered a number of customers and explored the question, “Is there a learning revolution under way?”  The general consensus was that learning must evolve into a blended approach that includes social collaboration as an integral part of the learning experience.  After all, it is projected that by 2020 the Millennnials will dominate the workplace, and social media is part of their DNA!  With this in mind, it’s timely that SAP Education is releasing our first course on how to build a social learning strategy.  Check our Training and Certification Shop next week for the first offering in Newtown Square.

Great conversations abounded at HR2013, and I really didn’t want them to end.  To help continue the conversation, I invite you to join us at our virtual symposium where we will be talking each month with thought leaders and subject matter experts who offer great insights and ideas on the learning revolution.  Click here to join us.
