The ball rises from her outstretched arm as if on its own power. At the pinnacle, it pauses for a barely perceptible moment before her racquet smashes powerfully down, screaming it across the net for a service ace….

You've probably thrilled to the moment yourself…and if not with tennis, perhaps by football or cricket or an Olympic athlete willing himself over the bar at an impossible height.

We love our sports and our transcendent sportspeople. We don’t just admire their natural talents – we’re also impressed by their passion for their sport; by their working hard; and by their working smart.

And increasingly, by their working with SAP.

Look on the sidelines. The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) uses SAP Tennis Analytics for Coaches powered by SAP HANA to deliver real-time analytics to coaches at WTA events, allowing them to strategise with athletes live, during the match, instead of waiting until the action is over. You’ll see them with their tablets, analyzing the data and walking it onto the court to discuss it with their players.

Consider how the USA’s National Basketball Association, McLaren Racing, Major League Baseball, or the 1899 Hoffenheim German footballers leverage SAP solutions to improve player performance as well as to bolster fan engagement, increase revenue, and streamline their business operations.  Or think of Germany’s dramatic win in the 2014 World Cup, and how the team used SAP Match Insights and SAP HANA to simplify training and improve performance. Of course, simplifying training and improving performance isn’t limited to world-class athletic organizations.

What ultimately distinguishes great performers in any field is their constant training and continuous learning: the “sweat equity” of stardom.

With SAP Learning Hub, SAP’s cloud-based digital learning system, SAP users of any technology (S/4HANA, SAP Fiori, SAP SuccessFactors Learning analytics, etc.), can build the skills and knowledge to become star performers in their chosen field.

Join me, Jenni Lewis & John Willis on Wednesday, 30th August to learn more about SAP Sport Sponsorship and how SAP Learning Hub supports continuous learning for all SAP Users.
