Hello SAP User Experience colleagues,

Digital transformation impacts nearly all areas of a business, from the design of new technology-enabled  business models and applications to efficient, highly automated business operations. A key to the success of any company's digital transformation is the quality of interaction between the solution and the people who use it - in other words, the user experience (UX).

Designing the best possible user experience is not just about creating beautiful user interfaces anymore. To humanize software experience through design, you must focus on the users' needs and expectations. Achieving success requires more than efficient software implementation or simply new functionality. End users are accustomed to consumer-grade user experiences on their devices, whether mobile or desktop, and they expect equally elegant and intuitive solutions from their SAP software. Meeting users' needs has become a key differentiator in our current and future fast-paced, innovation driven market.

This blog discusses a completely revamped set of learning journeys for SAP User Experience standards, tools and technologies. I hope to guide you on your way to finding education that will improve your use of SAP User Experience technologies from a number of different perspectives and roles. The SAP Education offerings in the second half of this blog are either brand new or improved and matured standard content available to you in a continous learning journey fashion.

Changes to the SAP User Experience Standard Curriculum:

One of the most noticeable features of the new curriculum is the revised course code naming standard. In general, SAP Education will begin using the UX prefix, as opposed to the older SAPX naming convention. The only exception will be SAPX01, which serves as our baseline introduction course much like SAP01 does for ERP topics. Also, the courses will be organized by their numbering scheme. For example, 100-199 will be dedicated to introduction courses, 200-299 will focus on administration topics, 300-399 will be used for the SAP Screen Personas courses, and 400 and above will be dedicated to development content.

For those of you who are already familiar with the SAPX courses, I have provided below a mapping table to help you determine which UXnnn course you should attend in its place. Keep in mind that we are also introducing over five brand new courses, and a variety of very useful openSAP introductory courses. The table below only applies to a mapping of existing SAPX courses to their UX successors.

SAPX CourseUX SuccessorDetail
SAPX01SAPX01This course will remain the baseline introductory course for the UX curriculum, much like SAP01 is for ERP.
SAPX03UX100 and/or UX200SAPX03 will be divided into two courses. When this course was introduced in 2014, it served as the 5-day implementation course for all roles (developers, admins, etc.). However, now that SAP Fiori target audience is matured, it is necessary to provide role-based courses for developers, application consultans, and administrators. UX100 targets architects and application consultants, while UX200 targets exclusively the administrator of the SAP Fiori E2E system.
SAPX04 & SAPX05UX400UX400 is your entry level HTML5 and openUI5 course. It combined the content domain of its predecessors into a complete 5-day openUI development introduction course.
SAPX08UX402For developers who are already well versed in HTML5 and the open source version of openUI, UX402 is the entry point for developers who now will begin to exclusively focus on developing SAP Fiori applications using the SAP version of the framework  - SAPUI5.
SAPX11UX200UX200 has been designed from the ground up as a complete and powerful SAP Fiori administrator's course.
SAPX12UX410The revised UX410 course delivers advanced SAPUI5 topics for the serious SAPUI5/Fiori App developer.

SAP User Experience Learning Journeys:

The following learning journeys have as their core goal helping traditional IT professionals like you transition their skills into the digital economy. The UX related skills are organized around five standard roles and/or technology domains:

  • Developers building SAP Fiori apps on SAP S/4HANA On-premise and/or SAP S/4HANA Cloud Editions
  • Developers using SAP Screen Personas for improved user experience
  • Application consultants using various SAP User Interfaces
