greetings..

i have completed B.E in Electronics and Comunication in 2012. Presently i am working with an IT company in IMS(infrastructure management services).

I am looking for SAP certification, please let me know the present and future scope for the same. ?

and will it be beneficiary for me to go for this certification ?

also, i would like to do MBA in future, so please guide me in this matter and suggest me if any other course is better.

They look my CV and advice me to do SAP-BO & its fees structure is 3.65lacs with certificate. They complete the course in 13-15 days & 2 weeks for doubt session, after that their is a certification exams then clear it after that they provide the placements.

In 13-15 days any module is completed. Only 13-15 days you have a practical session after that you have not do the practical. I have a doubt because practical session is more important............

So. I am confused is there any other location who is authorized SAP training center please inform...................

SAP Certification from a Negative Point of View

I am an SAP consultant (SD) and passed my SAP certification almost 5 years ago. However, my younger colleagues often ask me about SAP certification as they are considering to pass the test. I decided to write this post to share my point of view on this topic. Please note that all the statements (sometimes a little bit negative) that I make in this post are based on my personal opinion and in no way should be considered as the ultimate truth. I believe that SCN is an open-minded community where different opinions can be expressed and I hope that moderators are not going to remove this post.

In my opinion, SAP certification is nothing but cash grab nobody sane should waste their money on. If you already have experience with SAP you do not need certification. It is unlikely to result in better job placement than what you will get if you can demonstrate your on-hands skills, just like all other IT skills.

Preparation for SAP certification usually takes just ten days, costs some 5 thousand dollars and up in North America which is solid two month’s pay for most people. So at that price you figure you should at least get secured job placement right? Wrong. According to statements by disgruntled SAP certified unemployed, even if third party SAP approved certifier guarantees jobs, they only provide few, and those go to people with prior SAP experience. So why do you need SAP certification then?

If you have never worked with SAP before, it is better to just get on the job training by accepting lower wage while in training. It saves you thousands of dollars, you still get paid something while learning, and since they just trained you and you are already working, you are keeping that job too. Sure, wages might be lower than average at first, but after few years you can look for better job if you want, and on the job experience counts for much more than any certification.

If you are already working with SAP, then certification is not going to do anything for you anyway. Nobody will come up to you and say “Well, you have been doing great job, but until you got certified we just could not justify giving you a raise.” That would be ridiculous.

The only reasonable reason I can come up with to get SAP certified is if your employer wants you to and is willing to pay for it out of their pocket. Especially if they are still giving you your pay cheques while you are attending that 10 day training. Actually, this is exactly how I got certified - my employer covered all the costs.

I hope this piece of advice could be useful for someone.

P.S. Thanks for commenting! I agree with many points in the comments below. However, I believe that many of my original arguments are still valid. The fact is that SAP certification is a very controversial topic for discussion.

i am commerce graduate(b com hons) from delhi university,persuing charted accountancy course( in ca final stage ) , and persuing post graduation diploma in business finance from symboisis center of distance learning(in third semister). I am really interested in doing sap certification in FI. But very confused because i have no experience , have just done my articleship of 3 yrs from medium firm. so confusion is wheather i should do it now or not sir. i am not worried about the package what i ll get after doing sap certification, just want an entry to the sap world. the confusion is just because by now i am not having such good qualifications,and no experience. kindly help me out sir:(

What is new in SAP Certification - Part 2

Part 1 covered benefits of certification. Part 2 covers changes to the SAP Certification Program and question & answer from the April 10th webcast on SAP Certification.

Susan Martin , Global Director of SAP Certification, presented this webcast. The transformation began in 2007, says Sue.

SAP identified the three phases to go through to make certification more valuable to stakeholders.

Transformation step 2 includes setting up the Certification & Enablement Influence Council, including SAP Mentors, industry analysts, lines of business, user groups, customer representatives and SAP global leads from partners. Step 2 included awareness campaigns and launched professional exams.

Transformation phase 3 includes security testing, auditing and doing everything there. Credential validity and validation is moving forward.

Figure 3 shows the Certification Influence Council which meets 4 times a year, 2 times face to face. They help give market input, priorities from partner and customer perspective.

There are task forces for subjects as shown in Figure 4. Task forces help gain more awareness such as webinars.

A leading requirement was lack of global ways of validating a credential.

This year SAP plans to launch a registry of certified professionals so a customer can search for certified resources (see Figure 5).

Figure 6 shows the Credential Manager will include self-service scenarios for those who are certified.

Q: Being a certified consultant is always a good but how much assurance can you give a student to get a job after consultant?

A: Be careful about that – certification is one criteria, you are enhancing your value but it is not a job guarantee. Customer experience, references, interview, academic qualification, hands-on and it would depend on the employer. SAP does not endorse idea of job guarantees; job guarantees can be misleading.

Q: Can you describe or outline what the difference between associate and professional in regards to pricing and process?

A: Pricing will vary from country to country. Professional certification is somewhat more expensive than associate from an exam perspective but assume the professional does not need the same level of training than an associate would. The process includes eligibility processes in India and China that look at your experience to take the exam.

Q: The importance and validity of S-User validity – what happens when you join another company?

A: The new platform – the S-User is attached to the employer. From an employer and you move from one partner to the next is an example. At the moment you can contact SAP Education to merge your S-User. When the Credential Manager platform is launched this will be a self-service scenario. Certification status is yours.

Benefits of Certification

Sue started the webcast by saying that SAP Certification is undergoing a transformation.

Figure 1 shows SAP’s opinion on certification

A sign of commitment to customers for ensuring quality in rapidly changing markets. SAP wants SAP certification to give a reliable customer benchmark to make decisions.

You can see SCN discussions and social media that certification is not ultimate job finder and this is a valid point, says Sue. Certification is one part of it.

Certification helps bring customer project success, mitigating success, clear measurement across organization of current skill set.

It should be a measure of employability, further engagements

Figure 2 shows that a changing workforce requires certification

Rate of technological advances, mobility, cloud, Hana and need a way to ensure skillsets are there.

Sue said the customer needs to rely on a global certification and can work anywhere across the world.

SAP consulting workforce has is 100% certified in a relevant area of certification and this lead to changes in certification.

SAP has added an additional level for those working in an area for 4 years or longer – the professional certification, a reinforcement of skill development and quality

Sue indicated that having a high proportion of the work force certified provides tangible improvement and gains

SAP Global Certification started in the mid-90s as shown in Figure 4, and it provides an overview of the program.

Today there are 130 exams and translated into core languages.

Over 350K people certified.

SAP looks at how move delivery channels forward including the Pearson Vue channel.

In 2012 they had over a 30% year over year growth.

Pyramid in Figure 5 shows 2 levels. Sue said they received feedback that Associate is a solid level. The Associate level means first level project experience

Professional is for advanced level

Sue said they moved to more of a role-based certification including a job-task analysis.

Figure 6 shows the scale of the project; a scalable enablement program.

When they started the Certification & Enablement Influence Council they noticed a lack of awareness of training options, including virtual training.

Figure 6 shows 300K people trained annually, 29K to partners, 55K for e-learning, especially in APJ.

Top 5 reasons to get an SAP Certification

I have recently read many articles disregarding the importance of certifications – the argument being that experience is always regarded upon much more highly during the hiring process. This seems to be the belief nowadays with many SAP users/consultants. Here is an example of this:

Top 10 myths about SAP Certification

While I don’t necessarily disagree, I think it’s important to remind people that certifications can be useful, and there are times when it can advance your career. I have personally seen it benefit me in certain situations. Let’s take a look at some of these reasons:

1. Reassures the client

Part of consulting is to make the customer feel comfortable (the same goes for internal SAP teams, except the customer in the case are your end-users). Whether you have the perfect solution, or a complicated work around, it doesn’t matter. As long as the customer is convinced that you have provided them with the best solution for their situation, they’ll be satisfied. A certification gives you that extra push when you’re making an impression and selling the solution. It will help you gain the client’s trust.

It would be similar to getting a CA to do your taxes. It’s not necessary, but you would feel more comfortable if they were certified.

2. Marketability outside of the firm

Every consulting firm needs to win projects. One of the steps in the process is to submit a profile of their candidates to the client for evaluation. There’s no personal interaction here, so the only thing selling you is your CV. Simply having the word ‘Certified’ on it will not win you any project, but will the reader with a better impression of you (the same can be said for freshers looking to get into SAP).

Note: As always, experience still plays a bigger factor, but being certified would make it look better.

3. Marketability within the firm

A requirement of SAP is that it requires SAP selling partners to reach a number of certified consultants to maintain their partnership. If you can help the company reach their targets, your perceived value in the firm will undoubtedly increase as well. Not to mention, if a project comes along in your field of expertise, you will more likely have the opportunity to take it on.

4. Prove your knowledge

Even if it’s not for the purpose of impressing your company or clients, it is worth proving to yourself that you understand the fundamentals of the modules. You might have several years of experience, but having your knowledge validated will give you a confidence boost. The next time you present solutions and ideas, you’ll sound much more confident. That in itself is worth a lot.

5. An opportunity to learn

I had a few years of experience with SAP before taking my certification exam. Even so, while studying for the test, I learnt a lot of SAP functionalities that I never knew existed. It also gave me the chance to see how all the pieces of SD were connected together. I can say that I was surprised to see how much I learnt.

I have seen non-certified SAP professionals (with experience) not being aware of standard SAP functionalities. They end up developing solutions that could be performed by a simple checkbox in configuration. No matter how many years of experience you have, you will be surprised as to how much you can learn by studying for the exam.

Conclusion

Clearly, an SAP certification doesn't mean that you’re qualified to lead an SAP project. The same thing could be said about people who look only at the candidate’s number of years of SAP experience however. It is impossible to judge a candidate by either, but if you want to increase your value and expand your knowledge, having a certification can only benefit you.

7 Things To Be Done Once Completed SAP Training & Passed Certification.

I have written this blog from those people who have completed their training with full enthusiasm & zeal regularly attended the class & practiced the session on time. Thinking that once you are done with complete training and certification No One In The World Can Stop You To Get You Into The Lucrative Industry since you have paid a high price for this training so this kind of feeling is pretty much obvious.But the reality is very few or in fact no candidate has been placed & now we're all staring each other think man what has happened was all of our hard work is wasted......

Well but don't worry you all will be getting your jobs but it will takes some time It depends on how passionate your to get into the field.

Well in the mean time I have some homework for you, that you should do on daily basis or depending upon your availability, so that you so not lose hope and waste all your hard effort that you put in while training

Take a deeeeeeeep breath and think so what if I didn't get placed it's just a matter of time within a couple of month I'll be IN.

If you are a working professional then you should dedicate at least an hour in a day taking any topics of you respective module and keep practicing & keep reading

If you are a fresher then you should practice but apart from that you should go to any good job portal and search output for the job in your module and take a good look over the responsibility and try to do practical on them & you can always go through SCN for any doubts

Try to find some consultant of your module by using Facebook, linked in, Google+ etc. and get in touch with them and ask for some help about what's the current market trend, what's in demand & where is the demand

Try to search on the real time implementations that are being carried out what's are the process that are followed there are many useful

Keep updating your resume on job portal with improved skills adding some responsibility in demo project and so on

Well if you are a group than keep discussing the topics & issues that you come across while your practice and do share the job opening if you found them don't think If told him then he will grab my opportunity this is a very mean though which colleagues do usually get in their mind but for this I would say that if you didn't get selected and your friend did than its good because this means that he/she is more knowledgeable that you and even if you get selected then you could end up in trouble cause in interview you said know all but in real time you are not able manage the problem then you end up in depression, tension & giving 10-11hrsin office and thinks like that

SAP CERTIFICATION IS IT REALLY WORTH?

Nowadays, there is a crazy of getting certified for most of the people its a good way to add a charm in their profile or for some people in fact many people think that once they become SAP Certified the offer letter is next what they are going to get. but they reality is just the opposite to explaining you well I'll take a situation for you Once it so happen that a senior and mid level of experience people who have done the certification got stuck in a problem for 2-3 days but couldn't solve it, Later a junior consultant(3-5 yrs exp.) with no certification and he just solve the problem Right Away and other people were astonished by his skills the reason for this just that this guy has been practicing rigorously answer so he was capable to tackle the problem

In a same manner when the fresher gets certified I would say that he has now conquer the tip of the ice berg but still he have to fight for the portion beneath the sea. So still there is lot of knowledge a fresher has to gain.

On the other hand this doesn't mean that that its useless to get certified my personal opinion on that is you must check yourself on these thumb rule made by me.

1. Must have at least 3yrs of experience.

At least 2 implementation cycle of SAP-----> Point suggested by Miguel Alvear

2. Must have worked on multiple functional modules(say 2-3 modules)

3.Always try to do the certification when your company pays for you as its very costly.

So if you do certification on my thumb rule I hope the you will get the real benefits of certification like increase in Designation, Salary and better working opportunity.

Tips: How to prepare for SAP SD Exam

In this blog I will try to represent the overall picture of SAP SD certification exam as simple as possible. As you know the weight of each of the topic as given here

How to Prepare for Exam?

First you need to remember the determination rules in SAP SD process like shipping point determination, route determination etc.
Note down the all possible functions of each document like function of sales order, outbound delivery, billing documents, etc.
Classify the key functions at header level, item level and schedule line level of above listed functions
Note down and classify the functions of sales document type, item categories, schedule line categories, delivery document type, delivery item categories, billing document types
Focus on Master Data Management and link with the SAP SD process, remember the necessary settings
Get insight on SAP SD process functions like pricing, partner, text, output, data flow, copy control, etc.
Do not ignore questions from Basics of ERP(TERP01), SAP NetWeaver(TERP02) and Solution Manager(SM001), it is very easy and you can secure the 5-6 correct answers in real exam. I have covered the same in my premium question paper set
In exam be very careful with the SAP English, particularly with the words like can, only, always, except. Read question very carefully. SAP statements in the exam will be always confusing, so think logically and holistically before exam.

Overview of Real Time Exam

According to me and other expert, the SAP SD Certification exam looks like...

There will be 20-25% of total questions which you can give answers directly
There will be 30-35% of total questions which are average question, you can have answers if you are well prepared
Rest of the questions are scenario based questions and you have to think wisely to select correct answer(s).
There are no True - False questions
Hint is provided in real time exam for number of correct answers of multiple choice question. If there are 3 questions are correct out of five. Hint is provided like “there are three answers are correct”
If you are have selected an incorrect answer of multiple choice, you will not get partial marks for the same question. You have to select all possible correct answer

SAP Philippines Education center: Highly unprofessional, incompetent and inefficient. Nobody replies to mails, calls, or sms.

I had to go personally to inquire about a course that is due to begin in a couple weeks. And even after that, no one bothered to inform me whether it is being scheduled for the given dates on the website or not.

Tried calling coordinator today, that is, a week before the date,but she just doesn't respond. Even the Education Manager has taken her own sweet time to respond after n number of mails.

Very bad and ill-coordinated staff. A disappointing center from SAP.
