Dear Airport community,

last Friday October 8th, 2015 the SUG Airports (SAP User Group) met in Walldorf, Germany.

The evenning before some participants gathered for a dinner at the ACE Golf Club Restaurant in St. Leon-Rot. All of us are familiar with the standard approach for these kind of dinners. After a short reception you sit together with other participants at a table for the duration of the dinner.

For this meeting I chose a different set-up.  I called it: "Speed Meeting". You might have somehow heard about "Speed Dating". The idea is to meet people for a given time period. The objective is to collect as much information and details as possible from the unknown individual. After the time is over you rotate to the next one and start again. In "Speed Meeting" the idea is similar. Get together, collect information and build relationship. In addition exchange ideas with other airport customers and talk about their business approach.

The guests discussed hot topics such as "Internet of Things", "Customer Engagement and Commerce" and "Billing and Analytics" over the courses of the dinner. After each course of the menu half of the people changed places whereas the others kept seated. The feedback to this approach was very good and the results outstanding if you facilitate the table accordingly.

At the end of the evening everybody talked to everybody. The guests got insights into other airports what and how they do things. They learned about challenges and got ideas how to resolve them.

The next day started early in the morning. The fantastic realtionshsip build the evening before resulted in a positive spirit and created a lot of open discussions.

After presenting many interesting topics and cutting down every possible interaction time to a minimum (mea maixma culpa) we finished the day with an outlook to the next meeting Q2/2016.
