Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m currently working as a PHD student in the Chair for Information Systems in Technische Universität München. My research interests include the topics of modeling complex and dynamic systems, business simulation, and business process reengineering.
Share a bit about your SAP and UA Research background.
I have been active in UA Research since August 2011, when I joined the Center for Very Large Business Applications (“CVLBA”) program. Through the CVLBA I have had my first experiences with SAP-related topics in my studies. Since then, I have been working closely with SAP systems, currently with SAP Business ByDesign.
Tell us about your current research projects.
My current project is a Simulation Model for Business Process Reengineering (BPR).

Nowadays, many companies are involved in an immense restructuring process, in order to address the customer requirements. Various researchers have advanced the domain of BPR over the last twenty years. They propose several managerial concepts, principles, or guidelines for BPR. In spite of all these, still many BPR projects fail.

The findings so far indicate that BPR projects are seen as complex, difficult and costly tasks. The BPR initiatives are shaped by a number of different organizational and economic factors, such as organizational performance or customer values that are difficult to predict. Mistakes are realized after the redesigned processes are implemented.

However, to reverse the situation is difficult and costly. Given these dimensions of complexity such BPR decisions are too complex to be performed manually. Thus, the aim of this project is to develop a simulation model that will assist decision makers by analyzing and implementing various BPR decisions. The simulation model will be applied on a standard business process as defined by SAP Business ByDesign.
What do you like most about the University Alliances Community on the new Jive platform? How does this help/improve your SAP knowledge?
I like the new platform because of its new design and structure. It enables me to find the relevant topics much easier.
