Some excellent news for University Aliances member universities!

As a trial for 2014 the SAP Higher Education and Research User Group, HERUG, has opened its' doors to members of the global University Alliances program so that they can attend the annual HERUG Conference which is held this year at the University of Montevideo, Uruguay. Previous HERUG events have taken place at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Johns Hopkins University, Maastricht University and the National University of Singapore.

HERUG brings together universities that use SAP to administer various aspects of their university ranging from Human Capital Management through to Financial Control and many flavours of SAP deployment in between. However the now large number of universities that use SAP for these purposes combined with the over 1,500 universities that are members of the global University Alliances program means that in many cases there are potentially two deep wells of SAP knowledge that may in some cases not even be aware of the existence of one another. The benefits of bringing these two groups together are manifest and include being able to offer teaching, personal development and public visibility opportunities to 'behind-the-scenes' IT personnel upon whom the management of a university depends through lecture and speaking engagements and involvement in research; opportunities for lecturers to draw on their own university as a case study of a strategic SAP implementation including all of the lessons learnt; bringing to the attention of students that SAP is 'real' - that it touches their own lives even before they have begun their own careers in earnest.

University Alliances members can now attend the annual HERUG Conference which this year will be held from April 29th - May 1st. There will also be two slots for the presentation of papers from University Alliances members so any UA members that would like to engage with the wider HERUG community can submit a paper using the method outlined below.
