UA manager collaboration with Chengdu Labs to organize an open day for University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.

39 students from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, majoring in information and software came. This is not the first time for Chengdu office to invite students in for a tour and a chance to know what it feels like to work in SAP. Unlike the previous times, the students coming in this time are all freshmen at colleague, which means everything is new to them, even SAP. Giving an introduction of SAP can really help build up a good image by leaving a strong first impression, open their doors to enterprise software market and present the latest technology of SAP.

While seated, Poseidon Wu, Chengdu CRM director and also manager of Chengdu office gave an open speech on topic of SAP overview. He introduced SAP from in terms of vision, location, employee constitution, product and solution strategy and CSR programs, etc. The speech inspired students to raise a lot of questions and most of them concerned about what it takes to become a qualified candidate for a job in SAP and what are the characters SAP sees in a person as an employee. In response to those questions, Poseidon gave very useful suggestions to all the freshmen:

  • Learn to push yourself off the limit, not just in coding, but also in ways of doing your job;
  • Learn to cooperate: first understand yourself and your needs, and then get yourself understood by others by using good communication skills;
  • Learn to love; learn to have a life outside of your job and keep a good balance of them. Having a good personal life is of same importance as having your job well done.

The next section is an introduction to SAP products and solutions presented by product manager Ma Hongbo. Following the overview, Hongbo focused on more detailed introduction of SAP main products and its evolution. He also introduced latest updates on SAP technology development. It is a very good opportunity for students majoring in computer and software to get to know a top software company from every aspect, so they can extend their IT knowledge beyond their textbook to the real business world.

Students are excited to have this kind of experience in a real work place and to observe how real business is done by collaborative work with teammates. We really hope SAP open day can present them a brighter outlook they want their future to be like and be a goal of what they are going for tomorrow
