There will be a shortage of more than 825,000 professionals in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector by the year 2020, as expected by the European Commission[1]. In a digitalized economy we need talents who possess integrated thinking capabilities and drive innovation. That is why Cisco Systems, Inc. joined the e-learning and job platform Academy Cube which was initiated by SAP SE two years ago.
Together Closing the Skill Gap

Academy Cube is a non-for-profit e-learning and job platform conceived by high tech companies to fight youth unemployment and skills shortage. Interested companies provide insights into their projects and describe the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully complete them. The skills gap is bridged by algorithms that reveal which skills interested candidates lack and offer them the chance to acquire the appropriate skills and knowledge immediately on the platform. These trainings are almost always free and equip potential candidates with precisely the practical knowledge they need to thrive in the specific job that has been posted.
Cisco Networking Academy is a non-commercial ICT training programme that equips people with the skills to succeed in today and tomorrow’s increasingly connected world. Every year, one million Networking Academy students worldwide gain the skills needed to build, design, and maintain computer networks; improving their career prospects while filling the global demand for networking professionals. Trainings from Networking Academy are now also available for talents on Academy Cube. Furthermore Cisco will use the platform to offer talents from Europe jobs in the ICT-area and to recruit new employees.
With joint forces Academy Cube’s goal for 2017 is to have at least 150,000 registered talents that can apply to more than 30,000 jobs and are able to attend more than 2,000 e-learning courses.
