This week I joined about 90 professors from SAP University Alliances member schools from across the Americas gathered for the annual SAP University Alliances Summer Workshops at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Professors were enabled on S/4 HANA ERP, SAP Analytics, and HANA Application Development. We also introduced the SAP Learning Hub - Academic Edition to the many new professors joining our group.  I provided an update to the group on current SAP University Alliances priorities and plans for the coming academic year including our SAP Education Network for Digital Transformation and our new Midwest Digital Innovation Community.

Workshop Offerings:

•      SAP ERP Configuration using Global Bike  Simha Magal, Grand Valley State University

Participants were introduced to SAP ERP Configuration using Global Bike, Inc. (GBI) curriculum. Topics included: curriculum overview for SAP ERP Configuration; teaching system configuration using GBI client; concepts, exercises and effective pedagogy; and guidance on preparing for first classroom use. Participants explored how to integrate IoT and design into teaching with GBI with SAP BUILD and SAP Splash..

•      Analytics with SAP Nancy Jones, San Diego State University

Participants were introduced to analytics solutions from SAP including SAP BusinessObjects, SAP Lumira, SAP Predictive Analytics (includes Predictive Analysis and InfiniteInsight), and SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse. SAP’s newest solution, Cloud for Analytics (C4A) was introduced.  Participants gained hands on experience with curriculum focusing on self-service business intelligence scenarios including data visualization, data mining, dashboards, mobile apps, and how to leverage big datasets including Walmart/Sam's Club data at University of Arkansas.

•     Introduction to SAP HANA and HANA Application Development Ross Hightower, University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee

Participants were introduced to SAP HANA, SAP's in-memory database for real-time analytics and applications, and SAP HANA Cloud Platform, SAP's Platform as a Service offering for developing and extending apps in the cloud.  The workshop introduced new curriculum for teaching HANA application development using SAP UI5, both on-premise and extending into the cloud.

A special thanks to our hosts from the SAP University Competence Center at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, who did an outstanding job supporting professors and enabling an educational and enjoyable week for all.
