SAP University Alliances had an amazing week in Bangalore from 17-20 June 2014 where we organized, A Visit to Hope Foundation School (Young Thinkers Program), 3 parallel “Train-The-Trainer” (TTT) Workshops and the grand SAP Faculty Day jointly with SAP Labs Early Talent Team in Bangalore.

The one-day SAP Faculty Day event  was attended by over 150 Professors from the top-40 Universities in India comprising of Engineering, Management and Design Engineering disciplines. The full day event had various key notes, where Labs leaders : VR Ferose, SVP & Head of Globalization Services, Dilip Khandelwal, Senior VP, Bhuvaneswar Naik, VP & Head of Human Resources, Ann Rosenberg, SVP, Global SAP University Alliances Program, Mangala Seshadri, VP & BI Head, SAP Labs, Rohit Bhalla, Head of Channel & University Business for SAP Education, Shivaram T, Director & Head of HR for Labs India, Anil Warrier, Head & Director – Talent Acquisition India interacted with the audience. In between these internal speakers, we had an absolutely fantastic session by Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-Chief, and Times Now on the topic, “Empowering The Millennial”.  Given Arnab’s popularity in the media, we had opened up this particular session for all the Labs employees to attend. This session was also streamed LIVE at various coffee corner stations in the Labs Campus.

The theme of Faculty Day 2014 was“Empowering the Millennials”  because we believe that the world’s workforce is going through fundamental change. In fact, by 2030, 75% of the global workforce will be Millennials. How we hire, retain and engage them is a big challenge and opportunity. Academicians have the fortune to spend such valuable time with these Millennials and it is with their support and help that we can empower them.

Ann Rosenberg, Vice President SAP University Alliances, shared the Learn, Apply, Share, Recruit and Impact model to the professors who had come for the event. During her session she invited Mangala Seshadri from the Lumira Team to talk about the Lumira product and kicked off the SAP Lumira University Challenge in India. Rohit Bhalla from the SAP Education team spoke to professors on the newly launched SAP Learning Hub-Student Edition and how these online courses would help the students in reducing the gap of the skills they possess and what is expected from the Industry. Ann also invited Kavitha from SAP Labs to demo the SAP Mile Project which is piloted with top 6 Universities in India which will give students to work on 5 projects in different areas to do virtual internship. The winners of these projects would then compete at the SAP Techniversity event in Bangalore in September.

The professors also got to hear from 3 students and Ian Correa from Hope Foundation on how SAP CSR with the Hope Foundation has positively impacted the lives of the under privilege students. One of the topic which excited the Professors was Entrepreneurship where we invited Arun Prasad, President & CEO, 1-Enterprise who delivered a remarkable note on Entrepreneurship and how to inculcate it to the millennial

As you are aware,  SAP has in the past three years built a strong equity with the Faculty  and Students of leading colleges in the country.  We have hired over 500 graduates from  top 40 colleges in India and are benefiting from their fresh thinking. Over the next few years our aim is to make SAP  among the most preferred brand in the top Engineering, Management, Design & Research schools in India.

About the Previous Editions of SAP Faculty Day

In the SAP Faculty Day 2012,  over 100 Faculty colleagues from India’s top 40 colleges participated.  The theme was  ‘Creating a Culture of Innovation’ and we thoroughly brainstormed around the topic with a few speakers addressing the group of faculty members.  We also had a few faculty members sharing their perspectives about various topics.  We arranged the alumni meet for all the faculty members with their college alumni which was highly appreciated by everyone.   In the following year, we made the event bigger and better. Pasted below is a glimpse of  ‘SAP Faculty Day 2013, which was  a resounding success.
