SAP UA launches new Industry 4.0 curriculum

On Tuesday, March 17, SAP SE introduced the new Industry 4.0 curriculum for the SAP University Alliances (UA) Community together with partner universities at CeBIT 2015 in Hanover.

The curriculum offers various educational material for members of the UA community, who want to offer young talents the right vocational training for a future in the manufacturing world. It is for students focusing on engineering, business administration or Executive MBA. Bringing together theoretical and practical units, the curriculum enables students to obtain basic knowledge of Industry 4.0 relevant themes and experience real business cases. Within a pilot phase, only selected Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences all over the world are using this curriculum. These include among others Tongji University in Shanghai, University of Applied Sciences Frankfurt and University of Cooperative Education Baden-Württemberg Mosbach.

Members of the SAP UA program can integrate the content of the curriculum into existing seminars or design new study modules. The practical units can be completed with a visualization software or with a simulator of Festo, which can be achieved by the Universities. SAP, Festo Didactic and 8 Universities from all over the world worked together to develop the curriculum since mid of 2014. These include the University of Arkansas, RWTH Aachen University, University of Applied Sciences Frankfurt, Cooperative Education Baden-Wuerttemberg Mosbach, Technical University of Darmstadt, Aalborg University, Birmingham City University as well as Fudan University. 

For the launching event at CeBIT 2015, the representatives of the pilot universities from Asia and Europe came together. Dr. Bernd Welz, Executive Vice President and Head of Scale, Enablement and Transformation, and Ann Rosenberg, VP and Head of Global SAP University Alliances, presented the modules of the curriculum and a possible integration into teaching. As a highlight, the representatives signed a formal document about the announcement of the pilot usage.

                             
After the current pilot phase, the Industry 4.0 curriculum will be available for more than 2.000 member universities of the UA program as from August 2015.
