In the early 1990's, when SAP started development on the successor to the mainframe based SAP R/2 product, this happened on Unix platforms. The technology underlying R/3, is continuously adapted to the needs of SAP applications for almost 20 years now and continues to serve as a reliable backbone across the entire SAP solution portfolio. Since the beginning years, tens of thousands of customers have implemented their most challenging SAP systems in Unix environments and continue to do so. We now hand over the stage to our partners (in alphabetical order) HP, IBM and Sun. They will supply you with most recent updates on their technologies.
