Hello - As the Presenter of the SAP Advanced Metering and Energy Data Management workshop for this year's SAP for Utilities event, I’m very excited to share with you some details of the workshop.

The workshop will first look at the SAP AMI infrastructure which is used to integrate the SAP IS-Utilities solution with other external AMI systems. This will not only define the integration points, but also include key enhancements to the standard functions to make them AMI enabled. This includes the following areas:



  1. Device management (Smart meters)
  2. Customer Service:
    1. Remote disconnect/reconnect
    2. Text messaging and
    3. Operational status (ping)
  3. Enterprise Asset Management
    1. Event handling

The Second part of the workshop will look into how the Energy Data related to the smart meters can be captured within SAP Energy Data Management. This will include the different options on how profiles (SAP object to capture energy data) can be set-up and provide different functions depending on the set-up.

Within the SAP Energy Data Management section – we will also explain some of the key functions of the solution – example setting up validation, estimation and editing. How the solution is integrated with SAP IS-Utilities Billing engine and the enhancements made to the engine perform billing and provide the capability of handling events – example Critical Peak Rebate.

The final section of the workshop will focus on how other areas within SAP solution can take advantage of the Energy Data to enhance business functions. This includes the following:

  1. Rate comparison
  2. Multichannel Framework
  3. Energy Analytics in the cloud
  4. Prepayments
  5. GEOE - mapping the energy data on the map
