Messaging
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/webcontent/mimes/explanatory_graphics/standards/taxonomy%20graphics/gettingstarted_standards.jpgMessaging Standards are the technical specifications that describe how to deliver messages between services. To do this, they leverage foundational standards such as SOAP and MTOM for the basic messaging. WS-Addressing and WS-Reliable Messaging provide the additional specifications necessary for reliable delivery of a message. Although most messaging is focused on the delivery of single instances of a document, there are also "publish-subscribe" messaging standards, such as WS-Notification and ICE (Internet Content Exchange) that can be used to get repeated updates of information.
