SAP NetWeaver Portal, Enterprise Workspaces: Overview Information

SAP NetWeaver Portal, enterprise workspaces are an add-on to SAP NetWeaver Portal. They are intended to provide a flexible, intuitive environment on top of the SAP NetWeaver Portal, which allows business users to integrate, organize and use various content such as applications, reports, dashboards, web content and documents either from SAP or Non-SAP systems. This environment provides two types of workspaces: personal and shared. Users can organize content for their own purposes in a personal workspace, or share the content with a team or group of colleagues in a shared workspace.

Enterprise Workspaces also extend SAP NetWeaver Portal with mobile, social and collaborative capabilities that improve productivity and user experience on multiple devices, with minimal IT dependencies. Enterprise Workspaces therefore contribute to SAP NetWeaver Portal, mobile edition.

The initial and prime goal of Enterprise Workspaces is to enable quick and easy re-combination of existing corporate assets, with emphasis on structured content such as reports or applications.

All of that is done using a state-of-the-art user-experience and providing a self-service approach for the end-users.
Although users can collaborate around content Enterprise Workspaces are not targeting the people collaboration or groupware alike solutions but allow of course the easy integration of services.

Trial Version

Planned Delivery Schedule

Enterprise Workspaces 1.0 are an add-on to SAP NetWeaver Portal based on 7.0 EhP1 SP5. Enterprise Workspaces do not require any additional hardware investment, as it is installed on the current Portal server. Enterprise Workspaces are in the phase of general availability since Q4 2010.

The new release of enterprise workspaces 1.1 is generally available since October 18, 2011. Enterprise Workspaces 1.1 support enhancement package 1 and enhancement package 2 of SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.0. Enterprise Workspaces 1.1 also support SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3.

The latest release "SAP Netweaver Portal, Enterprise Workspaces 1.1 SPS3" is available since October 23, 2012.
