Managing and enforcing security policies on SAP Mobile Platform with CA SiteMinder®

with Computer Associates [COIL Palo Alto, January 2013]

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/webcontent/mimes/coil/coil%20projects/Projects2012_CA_SiteMinder_Mobile.jpg The widespread adoption of mobile devices poses significant challenges for organizations to ensure that their security policies are being implemented effectively and consistently across all access channels. This is because core security functions (such as user authentication and authorization) are essential to protect critical applications and data from misuse by the growing number of mobile users. SAP® Co-Innovation Lab (COIL) has just published a white paper which provides an overview of a project at COIL where we integrated CA SiteMinder® with SAP Mobile Platform to provide a common, centralized solution to manage and enforce security policies across both laptops and mobile devices from either inside or outside the network.

In alignment to the growing interest of Brazilian companies on SAP's mobile strategy and the Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP), COIL São Paulo with the support from Sybase launched an initiative called "COIL São Paulo SUP Experience 2011". The focus was targeted to technologically extend the knowledge and use of SUP among the local ecosystem. Scenarios were submitted and a total of ten companies were selected:
The selected companies had a three days SUP Bootcamp, and eight weeks of remote access to an exclusive COIL landscape for building the prototype. During the prototyping phase (October and November) partners had low touch support via the SAP Collaboration Workspace and continuos weekly follow-up calls. All partners were invited to an internal event on the 23rd November where they could show the results of their participation on this initiative and present live their prototype to a SAP audience (E&C, Pre-sales, Sales, Industry Principals...).

For most of partners this was the first engagement with COIL, and we were most pleased to collaborate with all of them and contribute to the penetration of the SUP technology within the local Ecosystem. COIL looks forward for further collaboration with these companies.
