In this blog I wrote about SAP Mentor ingo.hilgefort latest book, an eBook on Analysis OLAP.

I thought I would share a quick tip from this great eBook which only costs $24.99 USD.

I never noticed this before with Analysis OLAP but there is a nice filter bar available while you build your Analysis workspace:

Figure 1

Figure 1 shows the arrow next to the filter bar.

Figure 2:

So let's say we want to add the Project characteristics to the row of the cross tab, I select the Project dimension, then select the icon "Add to rows of the selected cross tab or chart"

Figure 3

Figure 3 shows that Project has been added to the rows of the cross tab.

The icon to the right will add to the columns of the cross tab.

Figure 4

Figure 4 shows the 3rd icon, add to the background filter (filtering on something that is not shown in the crosstab).

I select Load date, and then I am prompted to select a date to filter by (load date is not in the cross tab)

Figure 5

I select the date I want to filter by in the background.

I learned this quick tip by reading Ingo Hilgefort's eBook which you can purchase from iTunes or the iBooks store.  I know I have learned a great deal already.
