Very Large Business Applications (VLBA)

18th SAP Academic Conference EMEA

The main objective of this year’s “Very Large Business Applications” research track on the 18th SAP Academic Conference EMEA is to provide researchers and practitioners a forum to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, results, experiences and concerns in the several perspectives of Very Large Business Applications (VLBA) and their related technologies.

The definition of a VLBA builds upon the definition of business applications, which are applications implementing processes for value creation in organizations, but exhibits the following specific characteristics. VLBA have no geographical, organizational, cultural or technical limitations. They may be implemented as business application(s) as well as whole systems and system landscapes. VLBAs are of strategic importance to the organization because a change in the VLBA leads to high financial, personnel, and organizational costs.

The track shall help researchers and practitioners to develop suitable strategies, tactics and operational policies for Very Large Business Applications such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM) and supply chain management (SCM) and their implications on organizational competitiveness. Design, development and implementation issues of VLBA including ERP and other forms will be discussed. These include organizational, people, and technological issues of VLBA.

Submissions are encouraged dealing with any aspect of management of Very Large Business Applications (ERP, CRM, SCM, etc.). Submitted papers should be related with one or more of the main themes proposed for the conference:

  • IT/IS strategies
  • Selection of VLBA
  • Related technologies of VLBA (Databases, RFID etc.)
  • Performance management and measurement of VLBA
  • Organization of VLBA
  • Outsourcing of VLBA
  • Teaching concepts and/or new curricula for VLBA
  • Next generation VLBA
  • VLBA in the cloud

We kindly invite authors to submit interesting papers for the topics mentioned above. Because of the international character of the 18th SAP Academic Conference EMEA please understand that we can only accept papers composed in English.

Prospective authors are encouraged to submit papers for evaluation by the Program Committee. All papers will be subjected to a “blind review” by at least two members of the Program Committee, on the basis of relevance, originality, importance and clarity.
