Is it possible to move objects from one package to other package or to move package itself?

The answer is yes, and it is done through Refactoring.

Definition: Restructuring the Content objects without changing their behavior is called Refactoring.

When we move the objects, their references will be adjusted accordingly.

Scenario 1: Moving the Attribute view (AT_V1) from the package, say “srk” to “ramesh”.

Select the Attribute view (AT_V1) from the package “srk”, right click and choose Refactor - > Move.

Select the target package, for example “ramesh” and click Next.

In the Summary window, Review and confirm the selection of object, and click Finish.

Upon the successful completion of job, the Attribute view (AT_V1) will be moved from package “srk” to “ramesh”.

Scenario 2: Moving the package (vin) to another package (vinod).

Select the package “vin”, right click and choose Refactor - > Move

Choose the destination package, for example “vinod” and click Next.

Review and confirm the selection of objects, and click Finish.

Upon the successful completion of job, the package “vin” will become sub-package under the package “vinod”.

If required, we need to validate and activate/Redeploy the objects.

Refactoring only applies to Content objects but NOT to Catalog, Security.

That's it we are done with Refactoring

Thank You.
