Customize SAP ESS Launchpad - A Simple Step

This applies for SAP ECC6.0 EHP6, SAP EP 7.3

Here we are going to customize the standard ESS Launch Pad Role(WDA).

Create a new launch pad through transaction LPD_CUST by copying the role from standard ESS launch pad with Instance as Menu. Create a new role with Z name and Launchpad Type as FPM_UIBB.

The new copied launch pad role looks like below and we can do our custom changes like creating folder, re-arranging columns, creating new applications, changing texts, etc according to our custom needs.

Save all your changes and do a transport.

Now we need to change the standard ESS role in FPM component to the customized role ZRole.

Go to the transaction SE80 and open WDA component “FPM_LAUNCHPAD_UIBB”`

Select the ‘HRESS_CC_MENU_AREA_GROUP’ Component Configuration and click on ‘Start Configurator'.

Create an enhancement “ZHRESS_CC_MENU_AREA” and change the Role to our newly customized launch pad role.

So the final ESS output screen in portal is changed to your customized launchpad role.
