In my project newbies are not aware of NWDS set up for PO, many of them asked my help to set-up.  So I thought of creating a document and sharing in the SCN, so that newbies of allover the world can refer and work easily in NWDS.

First Download below stuffs:

  1. NWDS [Version should be same as SP of  PI box]
  2. JDK

NWDS Installer can be downloaded from the below link.

https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/nw/731/doc/auto_latest_distributions.html

You need S-Marketplace id(S-Userid) and Password to access this.

Note: Installed Size is approximately around 1GB.

To run the NWDS you need a compatible JDK 6u31 (it is by Sun and not Oracle).

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javasebusiness/downloads/java-archive-downloads-javase6-41940...

Download the 32 – bit version and install in your system. To download this create a free oracle account and download it.

Secondly launch nwds by double clicking on .exe file.

Create a new Workspace with some convenient name and proceed. I prefer to create the workspace in side the nwds folder only, so that it all important files would be in one place.

NWDS home screen, choose workbench.

Choose the perspective ->

Click on the highlighted button to connect to PO server.

Enter one time server details.

Alias: system name

url: http://<host>:<id>

Enter credentials to login to the PO.

You could see the iflows:

Below is a beautiful iflow look:

Thats it.....

Another important thing to know is deploying the object. Read below:

After saving the object, check consistency, activate and deploy.

You could observe below things:

If you get below error:  “JVM terminated exit code = -1

refer my scn-thread for the answer : http://scn.sap.com/thread/3433887

If you get below error:

Install JDK 6u31 click on ok and locate the jawas file which you could find in C:\Program Files\Java\jre6.

One more important feature is Versioning of objects is available here too, just right click on graph area of iflow, you could see the option 'Load from the older version'.

Its a great feeling to write my first document. thanks to SAP

Reg,

Avi
